Studies: On Intimacy

Consider the birds: on intimacy

C Type hand prints 127cm x 127cm, on aluminium, 2011

The photographs seem to reveal a fascination, which overwhelms at that moment of watching a wild bird so closely and so intimately, that you begin to wonder what it is that you are seeing - is it the bird or the moment of fascination. Strangely, the bird appears out of sight and our vision becomes literally blinding or sightless. We no longer see the bird, but are consumed by an awareness of ourselves feeling fascinated. Once caught within this strange domain, one does not see how to leave. Then, the bird is gone.
