Study of a Howling Wolf I, Study of a Howling Wolf II (England)

Black and White Hand Print, 120 cm x 120 cm

The wolf makes me ask, what comes before seeing? If Maurice Blanchot is right, the image is intimate, it delivers us profoundly to ourselves. After the object comes the image. So after the wolf comes the photograph. The wolf was there, I grasped it in a vital movement and then having become an image, instantly it has become that which not one can grasp, the unreal. Meaning disappears and always escapes into another meaning, drawing us unwittingly but inevitably into misunderstanding.
